Institutional Assessment Tools for Sustainability in Higher Education
Higher education is a fundamental factor of national development. It is also the engine of social mobility and economic growth, and universities play a critical role in providing quality education to advance these objectives. To this end, leaders of universities in Nigeria, and around the world, continue to make strides in their efforts to create trans-formative environments that are conducive to effective learning and cutting-edge research. Countries like Hong Kong, Ecuador and the U.S., have implemented educational reform within their university systems, some of which have had varying degrees of success. Our Global Leadership and Engagement Series includes action-oriented workshops that focus on the improvement of critical success factors and leadership in the development and delivery of quality education. Effective reform requires a focus on the strategic management and leverage of resources and capabilities to guide these transformations. Resistance to change, staff attitude, operational risks, inadequate technology and limited resources present major barriers in adopting structural and operational reforms that would enhance productivity and efficiency within universities. Workshop topics like: “Advancing Institutional Growth, Change and Developmentâ€, will address these challenges and provide tools and resources for successfully guiding the adoption and application of new developments and best practices in management and technology. “Institutional assessment tools for sustainability in higher education: strengths, weaknesses, and implications for practice and theory“ will look into the recent efforts to measure sustainability in higher education across 2 institutions , it will also discuss the benefits of cross- institutional assessments which include but not limited to: identifying and benchmarking leaders and best practices; communicating common goals, experiences, and methods; and providing a directional tool to measure progress toward the concept of a “sustainable campusâ€. Each delegate will work through real-life management scenarios as they relate to their environments. Moreover, the series will present a unique opportunity for collaborative learning, networking, and exchange of ideas, with direct exposure to global systems for the purpose of offering a comparative perspective Date: January 17–21, 2021 Location: Hotel Arundel Address: 7795 Arundel Mills Blvd, Hanover, Maryland 21076, USA
